Polarization a Top Issue for Mayors Around the World in 2024

Polarization of residents, misinformation and mistrust in local government are among the top concerns for mayors around the world this year.

In a new Bloomberg Philanthropies survey of 85 mayors, 60% said polarization in their community is “more extreme than ever.” And while 71% report that their local government is trusted, less than half say the trust is “on the right track” — a signal that maintaining that rapport is getting harder.
